ART on THE MART in downtown chicago.
part of their “Synthesis” program
“ART on THE MART is the one of the world’s largest digital art platforms that transforms an architectural landmark into a permanent, larger-than-life canvas. A shining example of Chicago’s long-standing commitment to public art, ART on THE MART brings cutting-edge video mapping techniques to Chicago’s Riverwalk, displaying projections of contemporary art across the 2.5-acre façade of THE MART, the largest privately held commercial building in the United States, internationally recognized as a global innovator in culture, design, and technology.”
BR34KD0WN examines how deeply technology shapes everyday life, from communication and social networks to infrastructure and identity. Beginning with Breakout, one of the earliest arcade games, the work fractures the screen into circuit boards and electrical pathways, tracing the movement of data and energy through digital systems, akin to the Chicago 'L'. Sound and image build in tandem: structured rhythms and visuals destabilize, collapsing into fragmented light and motion, reinforcing a narrative of connection and overload.Category audio
